About five years ago, I started making and decorating cakes for fun (I call it fun — my friend calls it “stress baking”). I realized two things in the first few months: 1) I had a lot to learn about making cakes that looked good and tasted good, and 2) I didn’t want (or need!) to eat all the cakes I was making.

After many months of practice, giving cakes away, and asking for honest feedback, people were saying I should sell my cakes, but I wasn’t sure where to start.

So now here I am. I don’t know how many cakes I will sell, but I hope I sell some! If I’m lucky and you decide to order a cake from me, these are my promises to you:

• Your cake will probably not be perfect,
• Your cake will be made just for you;
• Your cake will look good and taste good; and
• Your cake will only cost $20 more than it cost me.
